SUMMARY:Race 2 Glory
DESCRIPTION:Race2Glory is a multi-sport adventure race involving cycling\, running and a river run\, taking place on the 11th July 2020 in Kiltimagh\, Co. Mayo. 2020 will see the availability of 2 separate races. The long established “Full Race” (40km in total) course will remain as well as the “Sprint Race” (20km in total) course that was introduced in 2015 and proved very popular. Both courses are divided into 3 routes. Stages 1 & 2 of the Sprint course are shorter versions of stages 1 & 2 of the Full course\, while Stage 3 remains the same for both Full and Sprint competitors. \nFULL COURSE (Total 40km)\nTest yourself on challenges such as Spankers Hill\, The Bog\, Craggagh Hill and Glore River! Running/walking: 14.5km approx     2. Cycling: 17km approx      3. Kayaking: 1km max \n\n\n\n\nTHE DETAILED BREAKDOWN:\nSTAGE 1  RUN/WALK (10KM)\n10km run from Killary Adventure Centre starting on the road and then along a rough\, rocky trail section of the Western Way. \nSTAGE 2 MOUNTAIN CLIMB (2KM)\nThe climb is up one of the foothills of the Maam Turks to an elevation of 342m and the reward of stunning views. This is bog land with soft ground and long grass. \nSTAGE 3 CYCLING (17KM)\nThe first 8km is over rough forestry tracks coming out into the Inagh valley. The next 9km is on sealed roads\, this is Connemara though so do not expect smooth\, flat\, pothole-free roads! For information on what bike to use read our FAQ section. \nSTAGE 4 RUN/KAYAK/RUN (3.5KM)\nThe run to the kayaking area is across bog land to begin with and then on to a rough track to the water (approximately 1.5km). The kayaks will be 2 person sit-on-tops. You will take to the Killary Fjord with another competitor and kayak approx 1km around a looped course. DESCRIPTION:Location: Gregnamanaigh\, Co. Kilkenny \nEvent Type: 8 Hour Multi-Sport Adventure Race \nDescription \nThe TEAR Shamrock Adventure Race is back ! This time its an 8 hour unique adventure race involving Mountain Biking\, Canadian Canoe and mountain running or hiking as teams navigate around the Barrow Valley and Blackstairs Mountains. \nThe Barrow Valley is a fantastic location for a multi sport adventure race with the River Barrow\, Blackstairs mountains\, Mount Leinster and Brandon Hill all providing a beautiful natural setting for this event. Like a shamrock the race will be split into three stages based around the race HQ – the new Adventure Hub in Graignamanagh. Teams will navigate their way around the hills\, forests and rivers in the region finding as many checkpoints as possible over the 8 hours. More experienced teams will be stretched to visit all the checkpoints but you can check off as many as you like and still compete. Some will be easy to access\, others not so – its up to you which ones you go for! \nAll teams will need to have the appropriate race map (see below) and the time to ID and mark up the checkpoints before they head out on the first leg of Shamrock AR. Every team should have someone that is able to read a map and navigate or they risk getting lost! There will be very few conventional route markers. The race course is designed to allow people of varying speeds and abilities to compete it from the most hardened elite adventure racer to the novice team looking for an outdoor challenge. \nThe event is open to Teams of 2 or 4 (mixed\, all female or all male). The adventure hub is in the scenic village of Graignamanagh\, Co. Kilkenny and is only 30 minutes from Wexford\, Waterford\, Kilkenny and Carlow. \nAfter the challenge is complete its time to party with after race food\, prize-giving and drinks planned for afterwards – its Paddies Weekend after all ! \nLocation\nThe event will utilize the new Outdoor Adventure Hub in “Graig” as a race HQ and with hot showers\, a warm meal and good parking on offer its a great base for this event. \nEquipment\nCanoes\, Paddles and BA’s will be supplied and all teams will require their own mountain bikes\, wet suits and all the usual gear for an event like this. Full kit list with event instructions will be issued to all teams in advance of the race. \nAll teams will need to have their own map for this event.
