SUMMARY:Balor Multisport Race
DESCRIPTION:The name “Balor” for the event draws its inspiration from the Gaelic mythology deeply embedded in the local culture of this area of Donegal. By evoking the spirit of Balor\, a legendary figure known for his power and resilience\, the event aims to ignite the same sense of endurance and adventure that permeates Gaelic mythology. Participants are invited to embark on a journey that not only challenges their physical limits but also immerses them in the enchanting mystique of Donegal’s cultural heritage. \nBalor Multisport Race is a multi-discipline endurance event consisting of running\, cycling and kayaking in the surrounding areas of Dunfanaghy\, Co. Donegal. The event will take competitors on a 225km loop\, taking in breathtaking landscapes such as the Poison Glen\, Errigal Mountain\, Mulroy Bay\, Atlantic Drive and Muckish Railway. The event consists of six epic stages on a marked course\, totaling to 47km of running over varied terrain\, 167km of road cycling and 11km of flat-water kayaking\, with an expected winning time of 11 hours and a cut-off time of 22 hours. \nCompetitors will race solo or in teams of 2-3\, embracing the challenge of the course on their own. However\, they will have the invaluable support of their crew at two transition areas along the route. These transition areas serve as crucial points where competitors can refuel\, replenish supplies\, and receive any necessary assistance from their support team. Whether it’s providing encouragement\, aiding with equipment adjustments\, or offering a much-needed morale boost\, the support crew plays a vital role in helping competitors navigate the demanding terrain and push through the physical and mental obstacles of the race.

SUMMARY:Ecotrail - Wicklow
DESCRIPTION:19km\n \nThe 19 km race is the most widely accessible of all the races in our series but don’t be fooled into thinking that you will miss out on a lot just because you picked the shortest distance! \nYou begin at the promenade at Bray seafront before climbing up the slopes of the coastal hill Bray Head where you can look out across the Irish Sea. From here you enter the Elizabethan Kilruddery Estate before a run up and around the Little Sugarloaf – a limestone mountain carved out by the ancient sea that once covered this area of the Irish coast. \nYou return to Bray Head via Belmont estate (Water station here after 11km) where you are greeted first by views over Dublin Bay and then by a true Irish welcome at the finish line! \nThe 19 km route almost entirely on hard-packed trails with 3 short sections of rocky trails and only 2 very short road sections as you cross between Bray Head and the Little Sugarloaf. \nA map of the route is provided for your general information but this map is not intended to be used for access purposes. \nPlease do not access private sections of the route particularly in Kilruddery & Belmont Estates and Powerscourt Waterfall unless using their permitted public access routes. \nREGISTER for the EcoTrail Wicklow HERE \nView route in Trace de Trail or Plotaroute \n30km\n \nThe 30km trail race ‘fills the gap’ between the short 19 km route and the longer distances. \nLike the other races in the series you start on the scenic promenade at Bray seafront and take in the challenging climb to the little seaside hill – Bray Head. \nThe 30km race continues to follow the longer race routes through Killruddery Estate out past both the Little and Great Sugarloaf mountains. After the Aid station (Km 14)  on your return you will complete essentially a loop of both of these spectacular limestone peaks and returning to Bray Head via Belmont Estate (Water station at 22km ). \nMost of the trails on the 30km route are hard-packed and rocky trails with brief road sections. \nA map of the route is provided for your general information but this map is not intended to be used for access purposes. \nPlease do not access private sections of the route particularly in Kilruddery & Belmont Estates and Powerscourt Waterfall unless using their permitted public access routes. \nAs you approach the finish line you will enjoy views across Dublin Bay before receiving a true Irish welcome at the finish line in Bray. \nREGISTER for the Eco Trail Wicklow 30 km Event HERE \n View route on Trace de Trail or Plotaroute \n46km\n \nLike all four race distances\, the 46 km route begins on Bray harbour front. Leave behind the seaside promenade to tackle the steep climb to the iconic cross on Bray Head. Here you bid farewell to your views of the Irish Sea and turn towards the mountains proper. \nYou traverse mixed terrain trails across the Little and Great Sugarloaf Mountains\, passing through the scenic Kilruddery Estate on-route to the Wicklow Way – a 132 km walking trail stretching south out of the Irish capital Dublin. Your journey home begins at the foot of the Powerscourt Waterfall and returns to Bray Head via Belmont Estate. \nAs you approach the finish line you will enjoy views across Dublin Bay before receiving a true Irish welcome at the finish line in Bray. \nA general map of the route is provided for your information but this map is not intended to be used for access purposes. \nPlease do not access private sections of the route particularly in Kilruddery & Belmont Estates and Powerscourt Waterfall unless using their premitted public access routes \nREGISTER for the Eco Trail Wicklow 46km Event HERE \nView route on Trace de Trail or Plotaroute \n80km\n \nThe longest race of the Irish series takes you from the coastal town of Bray to the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Your journey begins on the seaside promenade before the short steep climb to the iconic cross on Bray Head. Here you bid farewell to your views of the Irish Sea and turn towards the mountains proper. \nYou continue your run on a variety of trails with the early stages of the race dominated by interesting rocky trails as you traverse across Little and Great Sugarloaf Mountains\, passing by the scenic Kilruddery Estate\, on-route to the Wicklow Way – a 132 km walking trail stretching south out of the Irish capital Dublin. \nThe middle-section of the race offers nearly every type of good trail imaginable with a few sections of quiet country road and plenty of ups and downs to keep you challenged and entertained. Wicklow is called ‘The Garden County’ for a reason and you pass by many of the national park’s highlights including the Powerscourt Waterfall and Lough Tay (‘The Guinness Lake’) viewpoint before a loop on the newly upgraded ‘Roundwood Reservoir’ trails signals the beginning of your return journey to Bray via Belmont Estate. \nWe expect most finishers will arrive between 9 and 12 hours after they depart\, and they will be greeted by the dusk settling over Dublin Bay and the glittering lights of Bray and Dublin where you can expect a true Irish welcome as you cross the finish line on the seafront. \nThere will be cut-off points along the route and one of these gives the option of dropping onto the 46km event at the 24km point \nA map of the route is provided for your general information but this map is not intended to be used for access purposes. \nPlease do not access private sections of the route particularly in Kilruddery & Belmont Estates and Powerscourt Waterfall unless using their permitted public access routes. \nView on Trace de Trail\nView on Plotaroute \nREGISTER for Eco Trail Wicklow 80km Event HERE

SUMMARY:Coast 2 Coast
DESCRIPTION:***EVENT CANCELLED – PLEASE CONTACT RACE DIRECTOR FOR MORE INFO***\nThe 2022 Coast 2 Coast Multisport Challenge just got a revamp \nThe Course \n\nStage 1 Bike Enniscrone to Ballinamore – 108km\nStage 2 Kayak Ballinamore to Ballyconnell – 26.5km\nStage 3 Bike Ballyconnell to Rostrevor – 141km\nStage 4 Run Rostrevor to Newcastle – 40km\n\nStage 1 - Bike – 107km \nAfter a brief run from the beach to your bike the first leg of the cycle course will take you 107km from Enniscrone to Ballinamore to the start of the kayak stage. The link above will detail the exact distance and elevation profile. The 1st bike is largely on great roads and surfaces with not too much climbing. There will be one official support point on the first bike stage around the mid-way point. You will pass through the following towns on the way. \nEaskey\nDromore West\nBllysadare\nCollooney\nBallygawley\nBallyfarnon\nKeadew\nDrumshambo\nBallinamore (kayak put in / transition) \nAt the transition to the kayak stage in Ballinamore you will be met by the 26 Extreme team\, Mobile Team Adventure if you have hired kayaks\, your support crews or the 26 Extreme support crew. \nStage 2 - Kayak – 26.5km Ballinamore – Ballyconnell \nCut Off at this point will be 4pm\nThe kayak stages on largely flat water with the majority in a canal system. There are three lakes with the largest being Garadice near the mid-way point. Garadice in strong winds can be tricky and care should be taken if your considering paddling a K-boat in high winds. Hugging the shoreline is always recommended for paddlers who lack confidence in open water. By far the trickiest parts of the paddle asides from the distance are the three lock gates that need to be portaged (carried around) It’s a proper paddle and its beautiful. \nStage 3 - Bike – 141km \nCut off at this point will be 9pm\nAfter transitioning back onto the bike at Ballyconnell you will pass through the following towns + 150km.\nDerrylin\nLisnaskea\nMaguiresBridge\nFivemiletown\nClougher\nBallygawley\nAugnacloy\nCaledon\nArmagh\nNewry\nWarrenpoint\nRostrevor – transition to the mountain run stage in Kilbroney park 30km \nStage 4 - Mountain Run 40km \nCut off at this point will be 9am\nRoute\nNew for 2020 the mountain route will follow the Mourne Way from Rostrevor to Newcastle and will not take in the high Mournes as in previous years. For 2020 these road section have been eliminated making the mountain run entirely off road with the exception of 2 road crossings. The route is as follows: \nStart in Kilbroney and follow Mourne way to Rocky Mountain\nClimb to saddle at Rocky and descent to Rowan tree river\nContinue to the Hen Track and onto Spelga\nCross the road before the Dam and climb Speltha\nDescend and cross road a Fofanny Dam\nContinue past Dam to Happy Valley\nContinue to Sheepfold at Trassey Track\nTurn Left and follow Mourne Way to Tollymore Forest\nContinue through Tollymore and to Donard Forest\nDescend to the finishline in Donard Park \n\nFor full race details visit : https://www.26extreme.com/take-part/coast-2-coast-multisport-challenge/

It is organised by Sand2Snow Adventures and Gartan Outdoor Education Center. \n\nThe Race is more than just an endurance event. It get’s inside your skin and becomes a part of who you are. It forces you to apply yourself in preparation for the race in ways that you never thought possible. And during the race you overcome obstacles that would have you turning for home on any other day. You come out of it a more confident and resilient person to whom anything is possible. And of course you become part of a community of fellow competitors. People who are always happy to hear from you if you have any crazy ideas!! – Paul Tierney\, Competitor 2016 \n\n\nAwesome event\, put on by an amazing team\, in an incredibly beautiful county. Definitely one for the bucket list. – Rose Leith\, Competitor 2015 \n\nStage 1: Run (22km) Gartan Adventure Center to Ramelton\nThe Race begins in the dark with competitors completing a half marathon as the sun begins to rise. This stage is all on roads with a gradual decline in elevation. \nStage 2: Kayak (15Km) Ramelton to Rathmullan\nCompetitors will reach the beginning of stage 2 as the sun begins to rise. This kayaking stage takes place on Lough Swilly. Competitors use single sit on top kayaks to paddle the 15km distance between Ramelton to Rathmullan. \nStage 3: Cycle (96km) Rathmullen to Muckish Mountain\nConstant hills and a prevailing south westerly wind make it hard to find a rhythm during a stage that has been voted the toughest stage in the event by the majority of race finishers. \nStage 4: Run (5km) Run/Walk/Scramble up and down Muckish Mountain\nA 2.5km climb takes competitors to the top of Muckish Mountain. Conditions under foot are marshy from the outset but the ground hardens as you climb. \nStage 5: Cycle (68km) Muckish Mountain to Glenveigh National Park\nOn paper the easier of our two cycles takes competitors around the wind swept and ruggedly beautiful Bloody Foreland. Many competitors will be attempting this cycle in the dark which along with the wind can turn it into one of the toughest stages depending on when you hit it. \nStage 6: Run (42km) Towards Gartan Adventure Centre along the paths and trails of Glenveagh National Park\nThe final stage is for many the toughest with the majority of competitors completing all of the 42km’s in darkness. \nRace Schedule\n10 March – 12 March 2017\nGartan Adventure Centre\, located on the banks of Gartan Lake\, will play host to The Race 2019. \nN.B. There are three lakes with the largest being Garadice near the mid-way point. Garadice in strong winds can be tricky and care should be taken if your considering paddling a K-boat in high winds. Hugging the shoreline is always recommended for paddlers who lack confidence in open water. \nN.B. SUMMARY:Tuff-Inish Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:  \nTuff-Inish promises to be a real physical and mental challenge\, fueled by the spectacular scenery at every turn and twist of the course. The hilly Donegal landscapes and unpredictable Autumn weather will be a major player in the unpredictable outcome over all 6 stages to an exhilarating and Tuff Finish. \nTuff-Inish has a 12 hour cut-off and can be completed Solo or in teams of 2 or 3 so if your not into Adventure racing this is also a decent challenge for a runner / cyclist team. The event starts and finish in Moville at Moville Celtic F.C. Clubhouse \nExtreme North organisation\, hospitality and medals will be all up to the customary high standards. \nThis event is also the perfect “stepping stone” for The RACE 2020\, same sequence\, halved distances and a matching level of difficulty and endurance and an abundance of scenery. \n  \nCourse Breakdown (132k) \n  \nSTAGE 1 – RUN 1 – 12.5km Road Run / Moville – Shroove – Greencastle \nTuff Inish has an early dawn start from Moville Celtic Club house up thru’ Moville town with spectacular views over the Causeway Coast from 5k before the decent into Shroove and onto Greencastle and T1. \n \nSTAGE 2 – KAYAK – 5.5km Kayak / Greencastle – Moville \nStarting from Greencastle Pier the Kayaking will take place along the West Bank of Lough Foyle. \nN.B. Kayaks will not have seats but competitors can opt to have their own seats and be personally responsible for fitting same to kayak. \n  \nSTAGE 3 – CYCLE 1 – 55.0km Road Cycle / Moville – Kinnego – Culdaff – Malin – Ballyliffin – Clonmany – Mamore \nThe elevation profile below illustrates this route better than words can so just add in some windy spells along this rugged coastal route. You’ll witness some of the most amazing scenery as you climax numerous vantage points along the route. save your energy for a tough final 0.5k ascend to Car Park at Mamore T3/4. \n \nSTAGE 4 – MOUNTAIN – 5.5km Mountain trail/trek \nStarting with first half on trail then onto a rocky heather climb to the top of Raghtin Beag at just under 3k. Hopefully mist free and taking a few minutes to be amazed at the panoramic vista all around\, then back to transition T3/4 \n \nSTAGE 5 – CYCLE 2 – 31km Road Cycle / Over Mamore – Dunree – Cockhill – Ballymagan – Glentogher \nStarting with a really tough 1.5k climb over Mamore\, then a more relaxed cycle into Buncrana. The final section from Ballymagan to Glentogher is hillier than it appears\, hence the slower than expected pedal on narrow roads and sometime poorly tarred surface. \n \nSTAGE 6 – RUN 2 – 22.5km Run\, Road/trail / Glentogher – Lough Inn – Crock – Ballylawn – Cooley – Glencrow – Finish \nStarting on trail\, check out the Elevation profile below for the 2 other trail sections. Take a breather\, look around you. \nTHE ROUTE\nThe white crescent sands of Glassilaun beach in Connemara will be your starting point before you make your journey across the peaks of the Maamturk mountains\, entering the heart of Joyce Country\, cycling on through the valleys of Killary\, Maam\, Maamtrasna\, Lough Nafooey\, Delphi and Drummin. In true Gaelforce West style Croagh Patrick will be your final challenge before you cross the line in Westport town. \nNOTHING COMPARES TO THIS. Here the route follows the Erriff back to Aashleagh Falls\, along the north side of Killary Fjord and into the stunning Delphi valley. \nLeaving the Delphi Valley and heading for Drummin there are impressive hills to climb and extreme care needed on the downhills. Expect severe corners and narrow country roads. On to a gradual climb (all on sealed roads) to the back of Croagh Patrick and the next transition area. \nSTAGE 3: MOUNTAIN RUN (4.5KM)\nThough your legs may be staging a protest but there is no completion without the traditional ascent and descent of Croagh Patrick (764m). Killary Gaelforce would like to share the ethos of care on Croagh Patrick with you our competitors. We ask that all competitors ensure that they ‘Leave No Trace’ on the mountain and that what they bring up with them MUST come down. We also encourage you to read the Mayo Mountain Rescue Safety Guidelines when climbing Croagh Patrick. \nSTAGE 5: CYCLING (11.0KM)\nAlways obey the rules of the road. For many years’ visitors have flown or sailed to Irish shores to take in these sights and to go home with great memories of this fantastic island. For one week in May many travelling will have their sights set on a truly iconic event – Ireland’s Coast to Coast Events. \nTraversing Ireland in a west to east format the route of Ireland’s Coast to Coast starts on the Wild Atlantic Way\, will pass through unspoilt rural locations\, through quaint villages and along one of the most famous waterways in Ireland – The Shannon – Erne Waterway and traverse one of our most beautiful mountain ranges the Mourne Mountains. Whether you choose to race the NON-STOP or TWO DAY multispot version or take part in Cycle Sportive or Mountain Race you will follow a route which winds its way along 312km of the best cycling\, paddling and running terrain Ireland has to offer. Competitors will be truly astounded at the scenery and challenge laid down before them in this fantastic event. \nFor the non-stop competitors – \nYou will set off from Enniscrone\, Co Sligo and race your way across Ireland in daylight and darkness along a stunning route to the finish line in Newcastle\, Co Down. 312km later and at the finish line of the toughest multi-sport race in Ireland and one of the toughest in Europe. You will be able to look back and take pride in the fact you have just traversed Ireland on your own power. \nFor the two day participants – \nDay one will see you set off on a route which will encompass just over 148km. You will be running on sandy beaches\, cycling along deserted roads and paddling along one of the longest sections of inland waterway in Ireland before finishing at the shores of Lough Erne\, Co Fermanagh. \nAt the break of dawn on day two you will set off on a cycling and running challenge totalling just over 157km. Expect more great cycling along quiet roads before setting off on the final foot section across the famous Mourne Mountains. You need to be able to make all cuts to allow the race to move across the country and ensure operational personnel are where they are supposed to be when they are supposed to be. Cut offs also ensure competitors safety keeping you out of the water and off the roads after dark. It’s tough to be stopped at a check point and the decision to cut someone form the course isn’t one we take lightly. That said they are there for your safety\, your fellow competitor’s safety and the 26 extreme crew. Once the cut off at a CP has been reached the personnel at that CP will start to make their way through the course clearing it as they go. You will not be allowed to continue. \nNon Stop Event Cut off times – to be updated shortly \nYou must depart the checkpoints by the time listed. \nBike / Paddle transition at Ballinamore – \nPaddle Mid way point Haughton Shore –\nPaddle/ Bike Transition at Ballyconnell –  \nBike CP at Caledon – \nBike / mountain stage transition – \nTrassey Track \n2 day event cut off times \nYou must depart the checkpoints by the time listed. \nBike / Paddle transition at Ballinamore – \nPaddle Mid way point Hawton Shore – \nPaddle/ Bike Transition at Ballyconnell – \nDay 2 \nBike CP at Callodon – \nBike / mountain stage transition – \nTrassey Track – \nRoute closure or diversion \nRace management reserve the right to alter the course at any time in the interests of competitor safety. SUMMARY:The Race - Donegal
DESCRIPTION:THE RACE: 250 KILOMETERS 24 HOURS.\nThe Race is a 250 km unsupported endurance event across the rugged landscape of North West Donegal. To finish competitors have to complete 15km of kayaking\, 166km of cycling\, 5km of mountain running and 64km of road and trail running. It is the ultimate 24 hour test of endurance. \nNorth West Donegal has been chosen for The Race 2017 as it provides the perfect blend of beauty and more importantly\, difficulty. The Race is held in early March to increase the chances of challenging weather conditions during the event. It is the toughest of courses at the toughest of times. In many cases it is how an athlete deals with the wind\, rain or snow that will determine if they have what it takes to finish. \nThere is no typical competitor. Competitors come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. You do not need to be an elite runner\, cyclist or kayaker. Those who compete in and complete The Race will be those who refuse to give up. \nThe focus of the The Race will be on the quality of experience rather than quantity of participants. The field will be limited to 150 participants to protect the local environment which includes Glenveagh National Park. The intention is not to exclude but rather to create an experience that will be one of the toughest but also most memorable of a competitor’s life. \nThe Race is a not for profit event will all proceeds going towards the work of Self Help Africa. It is organised by Sand2Snow Adventures and Gartan Outdoor Education Center. \nThe Race is more than just an endurance event. – Paul Tierney\, Competitor 2016 \nAwesome event\, put on by an amazing team\, in an incredibly beautiful county. Definitely one for the bucket list. – Rose Leith\, Competitor 2015 \nStage 1: Run (22km) Gartan Adventure Center to Ramelton\nThe Race begins in the dark with competitors completing a half marathon as the sun begins to rise. \nRace Schedule\n10 March – 12 March 2017\nGartan Adventure Centre\, located on the banks of Gartan Lake\, will play host to The Race 2017. \nN.B.
\nRace Schedule\n10 March – 12 March 2017\nGartan Adventure Centre\, located on the banks of Gartan Lake\, will play host to The Race 2017. \nN.B.
