SUMMARY:FEARmanagh Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:***EVENT CANCELLED till 2021. New dates to be confirmed*** \n \nWhat better way to spend a Saturday morning than getting up close and personal with Fermanagh’s rugged and wild terrain. Cycle through quiet back roads that cut through the limestone landscape\, carved out by Ireland’s icy past\, they’re guaranteed to give you more ups than downs! \nThen experience the wetter side of Fermanagh as you take to the water for 2 challenging Kilometres along Lough Erne’s rocky shores – and if the 304 metre near vertical climb to the top of the Magho Cliff Challenge doesn’t take your breath away\, then maybe the panoramic view it offers at the top will! So in a county steeped in myth and folklore\, are you ready to become a legend in your own time? \nFeel the FEAR and do it anyway! \nLong Route - 74kmLong Race \n\nShort Route - 35KM\nShort Race \n\nCycling (Tir Navar to Lough Navar) 9.8kms\nRunning (Blackslee Trail) 4.5km\nCycling (Knockmore to Lough Shore cont……) 3.8kms\nRunning (The Magho Cliff Challenge – downhill) 1.2km\nKayaking (Paddle Power Point) 1km\nRunning (The Magho Cliff Challenge – uphill 1\,000ft) 1.2km\nCycling (Lough Shore to Pub Door) 13.6kms\n\nTotal: 35Kms (approx) \nFull Description\nLEG 1 – CYCLING \nAfter an easy start down through Derrygonnelly a series of small hills brings you to the foot of the climb up to the forest drive entrance. The next bit isn’t any easier; it’s a leg buster to T1. \nLEG 2 – TRAIL RUNNING \nMaybe on the map this doesn’t look too bad but give it some respect. The first half is downhill on fire road except for about 800m of single track past the waterfall. It’s all uphill now back to the transition. It feels relentless and will sap the leg strength before the next section. \nLEG 3 – CYCLING \nThis is the shortest bike leg. If you’re changing shoes between running and cycling you might decide it’s not worth it for this section. The only problem is the really steep bit of road about half way in. Not easy to overcome in trail shoes on clipless pedals. If you can take the time to admire the view from T2 glance across Lough Erne towards Donegal. It’s spectacular but looks a long way down. \nLEG 4 – TRAIL RUNNING \nAlmost 300metres of descending in less than 1km. This will trash the legs unless you’re used to hill running. The steps can be tricky but you must keep to the path. \nLEG 5 – KAYAKING \nGrab your choice of open top kayak and head east parallel to the shoreline for 500metres before rounding the buoy and heading back to the transition area. You should be sheltered from the prevailing winds so you can enjoy the long views across Lough Erne to your right or contemplate what’s to come on the next leg to your left. Make sure to go around the jetty before heading into the shore. \nLEG 6 – TRAIL RUNNING \nAs a one off this next bit\, the climb back up to T2\, is hard enough but after what’s gone before it’s nothing short of horrendous. If you can run all the way and not cramp up you’ll be one of the very few. \nLEG 7 – CYCLING \nThe glory leg\, this is a fast and furious descent to the finish. Enjoy it. No holding back required. Let your inner Bradley Wiggins out. \nTotal: 35Kms (approx) \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register Now!

SUMMARY:The Coalface Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:This is a single day Adventure Duathlon. Based in a former coal mine you will be running and cycling up to four sections\, combining running trail\, forest track\, hills and an abandoned open cast mine. The cycle sections are on sealed tarmac roads of varying quality\, from primary roads to quiet country lanes. With a choice of two different courses there is one for you to pit yourself against. \nWe are fortunate to have the picturesque Discovery Park as the central transition point for each section of the race. In this way you will always loop back to facilities and supporters who will get to spur you on throughout the race without them having to leave the comfort of the Park. \nThe Park has a huge range of activities open for any active family members including a massive Zip-wire\, tree-top walks\, playground and a woodland Cafe! \nChanges for 2019 \n\nThe Start and Finish Area has moved! It will be deep in the Woodland at the Canopy Cafe and Elf Village. It is approx 500m from the Bike racking/transition. This area has Registration\, Post Race Food\, Massage\, Bag Drop\, Covered seating\, toilets\, a hot food Cafe\, kids activities (see www.discoveypark.ie for details).\nThe 20km Cycle Route has been changed. Still a challenge but turns left at the Park Exit\, avoiding the busy centre of Castlecomer Town and uses quieter back roads with two hilly sections (see route description).\nThe 2nd Cycle for The Elite and Sport Race’s is the reverse route of last year (Please note when reviewing route maps).\nThe Finish line is 500metres from Bike transition for The Sport and The Elite Options.\n\n\n\n\n\nSPORT COURSE\n\n\n56KM TOTAL DISTANCE \n\n\nAn endurance sapping combination. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is easy on paper. At 56km it is the longest Sport Course in the Country! A good level of fitness it required and completion will be the name of the game for many\, especially if it is wet. Your Coalface T-shirt will hang with pride. \nBreakdown of 56km Sport Course: \nStage 1 – Trail/Forest Run 5km\nStage 2 – Cycle 20km (New Route)\nStage 3 – Forest/Quarry/Trail 7km.\nStage 4 – Cycle 25km (Reverse of 2017 Route)\nNOTE: There will be a 500m run from Bike to the Finish Line in the woods \n\n\nCHALLENGE COURSE\n\n\n30KM TOTAL DISTANCE  \n\n\nFor those who love the outdoors and have always wanted to test themselves against the natural terrain then this is your opportunity!
