NO EXCUSES.\n64KM FULL & 45KM SPRINTCOURSES SPANNING WILDEST DONEGAL\nThe route takes you from the stark peaks of Glenveagh National Park via Mount Errigal to the sweeping beaches of Bunbeg. \nTRAIL AND MOUNTAIN RUNNING OR WALKING; CYCLING AND KAYAKING\nThe terrain includes rough tracks\, mountain scree\, trails\, sealed roads\, shimmering lakes and sand dunes. \nGFN ADVENTURE DUATHLON\nStay on dry land – same great routes as the Full and Sprint Courses\, just no kayaking. \nAdventure Duathlon: 62km / Sprint Adventure Duathlon: 44km \nGAELFORCE NORTH – 64KM\nTHE BREAKDOWN OF DISCIPLINE DISTANCES WITHIN THE 64KM COURSE:\n1. Running/walking: 19.5km approx \n2. Cycling: 45.5km approx \n3. Kayaking: 2km max \n  \nTHE DETAILED BREAKDOWN:\n\nSTAGE 1 TRAIL AND ROAD RUN (15.5KM)\nStarting at the southwest end of Glenveagh Valley running along a narrow path through the Bridle Pass\, into the grounds of Glenveagh Castle and up and over Gartan Mountain (200m height) to Gartan Lake. This is a remarkable run through the valley and past Lough Veagh. Watch out for the Golden Eagles! \nSTAGE 2 KAYAKING ON GARTAN LAKE (2KM)\nYou will paddle a looped course on the lake. The boats are tandem sit-on-top kayaks. \nSTAGE 3 CYCLING (24KM)\nCycling on sealed tarmac roads through Glenveagh National Park and alongside the Derryveagh Mountains\, to Errigal Mountain \nSTAGE 4 ERRIGAL MOUNTAIN RUN/WALK (4KM)\nA marked route is followed up and down Mount Errigal. \nCompetitors must reach the base of Errigal by 1.30pm otherwise they will not be allowed to climb. \nSTAGE 5 CYCLING AND FINAL RUN (18.5KM)\nCycle to Inishcoole Beach at Bunbeg. This is a mix of on and off road cycling – approximately 6km off road along rough Coillte forest tracks. The race ends with a short run along the dunes to the finish line. \n NEW 2016 –  ADVENTURE DUATHLON – 62KM:\n\nThe course is the same as that above\, but without STAGE 2. \n  \nGAELFORCE NORTH SPRINT – 45KM\nTHE BREAKDOWN OF DISCIPLINE DISTANCES WITHIN THE SPRINT COURSE:\n1. You will paddle a looped course on the lake. \nSTAGE 5 CYCLING AND FINAL RUN (18KM)\nCycle to Inishcoole Beach at Bunbeg. SUMMARY:The COALFACE
DESCRIPTION:This is a single day adventure duathlon race. Based in a former coal mine you will be running and cycling up to four sections\, combining running trail\, forest track\, hills and an abandoned open cast mine. The cycle sections are on sealed tarmac roads of varying quality\, from primary roads to quiet country lanes. With a choice of three different courses there is one for you to pit yourself against. \nThe 78km Elite and the 56km Sport will incorporate some of the longest drags and the fastest descents in the County. We are fortunate to have the picturesque Discovery Park as the central transition point for each section of the race. In this way you will always loop back to facilities and supporters who will get to spur you on throughout the race without them having to leave the comfort of the Park.
