DESCRIPTION:Staged in Inishowen\, Irelands largest and most northerly peninsula is steeped in history\, culture\, tradition and is home to the origin of the Wild Atlantic Way. The event location Sliabh Sneacht is an Adventure paradise of hills\, trails\, lakes and a terrain that will have tried and tested your fitness and scenery that will restore your adrenaline time and again to cross that finish line with a new self-belief and greeted with friendliness\, stunning medals and amazing hospitality. \nAdventure racing really tests your overall fitness\, switching disciplines and utilizing different muscles allows you achieve greater distances. Shore 2 Summit’s 3 course options\, with the perfect balance of endurance and speed\, ensures there is a race for you to challenge your fitness and training regime. \nEach race distances is designed with a perfect balance of endurance for that fitness level\, so you will know and feel that you have been in a proper challenge. \n\nThe 62k Extreme is exactly what it says and a favorite with the hardened Adventurer.\nThe 41k Sprint courses have won the acclaim of regular adventurers and will challenge even the best of adventurers.\nThe 22k Mini is also guaranteed to challenge and excite the Novice adventurer.\nTeams of 2 & Kayaking opt-out are available options when registering.\n\nEVENT NAME CHANGE 2019 – “Shore 2 Summit AR” relocated in 2015 resulting in the omission of any “Shore” location in the new routes\, therefore we have decided to MARKET 2019 event as “Shore 2 Summit AR” and on Race Day REBRAND the event to its new title of “Rugged Peaks AR”. Just the name changes\, the course is exact same. \n\n62K Ultra race \n12.5K Run – Starting at the Sliabh Sneacht Centre a flat start soon turns right onto a 3.0k steep climb\, starting on road and eventually leading onto hill track. After passing the Wind Mills the hill road goes into a long decline before ending back on main roads and a rolling terrain leads runners to the Lake Kayak stage. \n1.5k Kayak – Kayaking is on Lough Fad lake\, surrounded by steep mountainous terrain\, so enjoy and relax a little for some of the tasks ahead. \n22.5k Cycle – The first cycle of the day starts with a 6k on road then 6k off road section which incorporates a 1k steep climb. Fantastic panoramic scenery on both sides of Lough Swilly as you wind your way around Wind Mills before embarking on rural windy\, rolling roads for the final half of the cycle terminating with a steep off road climb to base of Sliabh Sneacht. \n7.0K Mountain Trek – Starting with a .75k track\, then onto a similar distance of relatively flat but boggy section before embarking on the real 2k climb of Sliabh Sneacht. Hopefully a clear day will reveal the real beauty of the peninsula for as far as the eye can see. \n18.3K Cycle 2 – Continuing on Mountain track and after a short 1k you may have to assist / carry you bike across a 100m section then another 2k of off road before eventually ending up on small windy rural roads as you make your way back to the Finish line at Sliabh Sneacht Centre at Drumfries. \n0.2K Run -Rack your bike and a short sprint around the Centre to the very welcome Finish Gantry where you’ll get presented with your Medal and Race time and then a well deserved warm meal as you reminisce on your achievement with friends and colleagues. \n41K Sprint Race \n6.50k Run – All on road this starts with an easy flat then continues on rolling roads as you make your way to Lough Fad and the Kayak section. \n1.5k Kayak – Kayaking is on Lough Fad lake\, surrounded by steep mountainous terrain\, so enjoy and relax a little for some of the tasks ahead. \n15.5k Cycle – The first cycle of the day starts with a 6k on road then 5k off road section which incorporates a 1k steep climb. Fantastic panoramic scenery on both sides of Lough Swilly as you wind your way around Wind Mills and separate from the Extreme Course for a shorter descent before embarking on rural windy\, rolling roads for the final half of the cycle terminating with a steep off road climb to base of Sliabh Sneacht. \n5.3K Mountain Trek – Starting with a .75k track\, then onto a similar distance of relatively flat but boggy section before embarking on over 1k of a rock/heather climb of Sliabh Sneacht. As you turn around to descend again take in the real beauty of the peninsula for as far as the eye can see. \n13.0K Cycle 2 – Continuing on Mountain track and after a short 1k you may have to assist / carry you bike across a 100m section then another 2k of off road before eventually ending up on small windy rural roads as you make your way back to the Finish line at Sliabh Sneacht Centre at Drumfries. \n0.2K Run -Rack your bike and a short sprint around the Centre to the very welcome Finish Gantry where you’ll get presented with your Medal and Race time and then a well deserved warm meal as you reminisce on your achievement with friends and colleagues. \n22K Mini Adventure \n5.00K Run – Short but not easy \, mainly rising roads with the most notable climb as runners turn towards Sliabh Sneacht on the off road section. This run will continue into the mountain trek\, but a forced slower pace will be a welcome addition. \n3.00K Mountain trek – At end of run on hill track runners now start on the first 1k of flat boggy hill trek\, then a further 1k climb half way up the mountain. Take note of the beautiful scenery as you turn around to descend the mountain and back to the Bike Transition. \n5.00K Cycle 1 – Continuing on Mountain track and after a short 1k you may have to assist / carry you bike across a 100m section then another 2k of off road before eventually ending up on rural roads as you make your way to the kayak section. \n1.0k Kayak – Kayaking is on Lough Fad lake\, the kayaks are twin\, flat bottom kayaks which means that you don’t really need much /any previous kayaking experience as there is little chance of capsizing. So relax and take in your surrounded of the steep mountainous terrain\, as you complete the short course around the centre Island. \n7.8K Cycle2 – Back on the bike and navigate along small windy rural roads as you make your way back to the Finish line at Sliabh Sneacht Centre at Drumfries. \n0.2K Run -Rack your bike and a short sprint around the Centre to the very welcome Finish Gantry where you’ll get presented with your Medal and Race time and then a well deserved warm meal as you reminisce on your achievement with friends and colleagues. \n\nFinish Arena \nThe finishers arena in the new Sliabh Sneacht centre will greet you with a welcome worthy of the challenge and you can rest shower and recover as you savour the hot food and goodies while reflecting on an amazing achievement on an equally amazing course. DESCRIPTION:Urban meets rural in Spring 2019 as Gaelforce brings an adventure race to Dublin. \nBased in the foothills of the Dublin mountains\, 20 minutes from the city center\, you will be able to enjoy the beauty of our capital with amazing views from Kippure mountain. \nThere are 2 courses to choose from\, depending on your fitness and adventurous levels.  A 29km and a 49km course. The breakdown of each are as follows;3 \nThe 2018 event SOLD OUT\, don’t miss out on a place at the start line of the 2019 event – REGISTER EARLY! \nTHE BREAKDOWN OF DISCIPLINE DISTANCES FOR THE 29KM COURSE:\n1. Running/walking: 11km approx \n2. Cycling: 17.5km approx \n3. Kayaking: 750m max \nBRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION: \nSTAGE 1 RUN (1KM)\nShort run around Sean Walsh park to the bike transition \nSTAGE 2 CYCLING (9KM)\nSealed road leads you to a steep uphill and then onto a dirt road. At the end of the dirt track you return to sealed roads and down a steep windy road to the reservoir. You drop your bike at the end of the first lake. \nSTAGE 2 KAYAKING ON RESERVOIR (750M)\nFrom the bike drop there is a short run up the hill to the top reservoir where you will start the kayak stage. The boats are tandem sit-on-top kayaks. \nSTAGE 4 KIPPURE MOUNTAIN RUN/WALK (10KM)\nA marked route is followed up and down Kippure Mountain. You will run alongside the reservoir then on the road until you reach the track for the mountain. This track is very uneven so watch your footing. The route takes you roughly 2 km up the hill before you turn around to return to the bike drop. \nSTAGE 5 CYCLING (8.5KM)\nThe first section of the cycle is on the same road you ran out on so it is gravel\, take care with your tyres. Following the road alongside the reservoir you will eventually join the R114 and the final spin back to Tallaght stadium. \nRUN TO FINISH\nThe final run of glory to finish. \n  \nRegister Now!\n  \n===================== \nTHE BREAKDOWN OF DISCIPLINE DISTANCES FOR THE 49KM COURSE:\n1. Running/walking: 15km approx \n2. Cycling: 33km approx \n3. Kayaking: 1.5km max \n\nBRIEF COURSE DESCRIPTION:\nSTAGE 1 RUN (1KM)\nShort run around Sean Walsh Park to the first bike transition \nSTAGE 2 CYCLING (16.5KM)\nSealed roads followed by dirt road and a 4km uphill on Coilte forest gravel track. This cycle stage also includes 2 steep descents (*DESCENT 1 & 2). You will need to be comfortable cycling off road uphill and downhill to manage this cycle. \nSTAGE 3 KAYAKING ON RESERVOIR (1.5KM)\nFrom the bike drop there is a short run up the hill to the top reservoir where you will start the kayak stage. The boats are tandem sit-on-top kayaks. \nSTAGE 4 KIPPURE MOUNTAIN RUN/WALK (13KM)\nA marked route is followed up and down Kippure Mountain.
