SCAR stands for Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race. (Final details to be confirmed)

Firstly, thank you to all our sponsors, service providers and volunteers. We would not be in the unique position of being the largest Adventure Race in Ireland where 100% of all your race entry fees are donated to charity.

Race Pack Collection : Registration and race pack collection plus bike racking will be from 7:30am-9:45am on Saturday 16th (ONLY) at Castlehaven GAA Grounds.

Route Map: Please click links below to see route maps. While the route will be marked and marshaled, you are responsible for following the correct route and registering at any checkpoints on your course.

TASTER – 26 KM

The TASTER starts in Castlehaven GAA with a 6 km Out and In run, followed by a 20 km bike loop starting and finishing in the Castlehaven GAA grounds with a short sprint over the finish line.

SPORT – 58.5 KM

*Note: All starts are from Castlehaven GAA Grounds with registration and bike rack on Saturday morning only.

Run 6 km – Cycle 22 km – Run 7 km – Kayak 1.5 km – Cycle 22 km

The SPORT starts in Castlehaven GAA with a 6 km Out and In RUN, followed by a 22 km BIKE to the Bike Drop in Lough Hyne, where you begin the anticlockwise 7 km Lough Hyne Forest Loop RUN. After descending the famous steps you will begin the 1.5 km KAYAK (in double sit on top kayaks). After the Kayak you will collect your bike and head on the second 22 km BIKE back to Castlehaven GAA grounds finishing with a short sprint over the finish line.

NOTE: EXPERT and SPORT Course participants will earn points for the MSAI National Series.

EXPERT – 77.5 KM

*Note: All starts are from Castlehaven GAA Grounds with registration and bike rack on Saturday morning only. 

EXPERT —77.5 km

Run 12 km – Cycle 35 km – Run 7 km – Kayak 1.5 km – Cycle 22 km

The EXPERT starts in Castlehaven GAA with a 12 km Castle Loop RUN, followed by a 35 km BIKE to the Bike Drop in Lough Hyne, where you begin the anticlockwise 7 km Lough Hyne Forest Loop RUN. After descending the famous steps you will begin the 1.5 km KAYAK (in double sit on top kayaks). After the Kayak you will collect your bike and head on the second 22 km BIKE back to Castlehaven GAA grounds finishing with a short sprint over the finish line.

Your race pack, (inc. race number, bike sticker & timing chip) will be available for collection at Castlehaven GAA Grounds from 7:30am to 9:45 on Saturday 16th Oct.

* There will be plenty of parking in club grounds. Please follow Marshal instruction when you arrive.

* To streamline race-day registration, your race number will be sent to you by email – and race-day registration desks will handle specific number ranges – please note your number and present at the correct registration desk on the morning.

* Anyone who has ordered a Race T-Shirt can collect these along with your Race Pack.

* THERE ARE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO THE 2021 COURSES COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS; Please study your NEW route map linked from this page.
