The Kerry Way UltraNite – Sept 2nd & 3rd (Fri/Sat), 2022
This event will be held over The Kerry Way route from Waterville to Killarney, starting outside Waterville, at Mastergeehy, at 9pm on Friday and finishing in The Killarney Racecourse on Saturday. Registration will be in The Lobster Bar, Waterville on Friday between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
There will be a transfer from Killarney to Waterville on Friday evening, approx. 6pm from The Killarney Racecourse (€15) for the Start.
This is a shorter version of The Kerry Way Ultra (193k) and longer that The Kerry Way UltraLite (58k) and will be run concurrently with both events.
The UltraNite will be along the same lines – live tracking, self-sufficient with Crew Stops and Bag Drops at Caherdaniel, Sneem, Templenoe and Kenmare, emergency water only provided by the committee, no Prize Money but Participants Awards and No Trace Race principles applied.
There will be a Mandatory Gear check – waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, gloves, head torch, fully charged mobile phone (not on Airplane Mode!), map or GPS of the route, spare food and water, survival (bivy, foil) bag and First Aid Kit. Gear Check will be before Registration and you will not be let register if you do not have all of the above, and there will be no sharing gear!
This event is due to demand for a longer version of the UltraLite and a shorter version of the Ultra and is only possible thanks to the envolvement of the local landowners, South Kerry Development Partnership and the communities along the route.
As usual, contact Eileen on (087) 2731489 if you need details, information or encouragement.
Race Information – approx. 100k in length, starting outside Waterville and finishing in Killarney. There is a cut-off time of 4pm in Kenmare and this is strictly enforced. Check The Kerry Way Ultra Race Info page for details of Crew Stops, Mandatory Gear List and other general information.
